Carsick Cars Split and Re Group

Its a sad day when one of your favourite bands split up. I was fortuneate enough to be at their last gig Tuesday night and can safely say I was the last person to mosh to Carsick Cars (cause no one else was moshing). I took a few pics with my phone at the gig. I’m also lucky enough to have got the whole band to sign one of our Carsick Cars T-shirts which I will keep somewhere safe. You can still buy the original Carsick Cars T-shirt in our stores or online on taobao or on our own site. And if you want to see possibly the best video and live recording of Carsick Cars you can see them here when they played at our Plastered Rock Weekend last year. The good news is they are re forming just without the bass player and the drummer, so that leaves Shou Wang.

Plastered On Sale At South By Southwest Music Festival USA

We are proud to announce that Plastered products will be on sale at the South By Southwest music festival in the USA this March. South by Southwest is one of the largest music festivals in the world and this year the Chinese rock scene will have its own stage! Plastered sponsored bands such as Carsick Cars and P.K.14 will be their as well as other great bands from China.
We recently sent a few boxes of products to go along with the Maybe Mars bands on their recent tour of the USA including the famous Glasslands club in New York. We sold everything we sent and got tones of emails and orders online from fans who had seen Plastered at the different venues. This time we are sending over loads of Plastered product and we are looking forward to getting more great responses from the USA. We also have new PK.14 and Carsick Cars T-shirts coming out this spring along with our new collection of products and soon to be newly renovated stores.

Plastered T-shirts is bringing Beijing the best in rock, showcasing Beijing’s top bands (P.K.14, Carsick Cars, and GAR) as the headliners. The event is a three-day rock fest that takes place over the course of one weekend – September 18 – 19^th.

Plastered Rock Weekend marks the launch of our new website featuring our “Plastered Backstage” site that is host to our cooperation with China’s rock music scene. We collaborate with Beijing’s top bands to create artwork and plaster it on t-shirts, available in our shops, and from our new website. Beyond the artwork, “Plastered Backstage” is host to a bilingual forum for all events, news, images, and community related to China’s rock scene.

Starting with Friday night (September 18, 2009) at D-22, Plastered brings you the next generation of Chinese rock with the city’s best student bands vying for a spot as warm- up band for the following night at Yugongyishan (panel of judges to select and the winner will be announced at the end of the night). That night (Saturday, September 19) P.K.14, Carsick Cars, and GAR will take the stage at Yugongyishan (all on the Maybe Mars record label). This is the last chance to catch these bands before they take off on their international tour.

Tickets for the event at Yugongyishan are RMB 60 but we’re giving away hundreds of free tickets online starting September 1st. Sign up for the free tickets at www.plasteredtshirts.com. On top of the free tix, expect free giveaways.

After many hours of work it now seems that we have a Plastered Music festival of sorts on its way. Working with Maybe Mars we have managed to get 3 of Beijing’s biggest acts to pull off what will be 3 great nights.

Starting with Friday night (September 18, 2009) at D-22, Plastered brings you the next generation of Chinese rock with the city’s best student bands vying for a spot as warm- up band for the following night at Yugongyishan (panel of judges to select and the winner will be announced at the end of the night). The Plastered Rock Weekend night at Yugongyishan will be streaming from the Plastered site for those who choose to watch and rock at home. It officially marks the launch of the site.

My ears are still ringing and my whole body hurts which must mean it was a great night. After an hour in the pit jumping around I went home exhausted. The new album from what I heared that night is brilliant. GAR played too and they were great! Here are some pics from the night.

Sponsoring music in China is one of our greatest passions. Our work withmicromu has resulted in one that we are particularly proud of. Here is a great song by Jeff Zhang, singer song writer from Carsick Cars recorded by micromu and sponsored by Plastered T-shirts. The song, Dead Flower, has been viewed on many Chinese sites and blogs and also on international sites. It becomes increasingly popular by the day. Carsick Cars have a new album coming out May 1st with the maybemars record label and we are very excited about its release.
