We’ve got 2 interns from the USA with us right now. I took them along with me to attend one of the regular T.V. shows I do, here’s a blog they wrote about the day:
Cat and Kiran here! We are two lucky Americans interning at Plastered T-shirts. Our recent adventure with Dominic involved his role as a judge on Zhi Lai Zhi Wang, one of China’s top T.V. shows. The “judges” are representatives from businesses like BMW, Starbucks and our very own Plastered T-shirts.
Dominic took us along to watch the filming of the show. Here we are exploring the set, pretendingto be judges. We also went into the VIP room and Dominic introduced us to a ton of Chinese celebrities. Weeven snagged pictures with Stone Yang and Celebrity Stylist A Tao before the show! Awesome!
For the show, we sat right up front, surrounded by tons of giddy school kids. When filming began, the cast of judges walked on stage to their podiums. Dominic cameout rocking his very own Retro Flying Panda Plastered design in Blue.Talk about clever marketing strategies. The crowd was screaming with excitement.
At the end of the show, a few lucky contestants walked away with job offers, others went homeempty handed. It was nerve-wracking to watch the contestants’ hopes for the future made or dashed beforeour eyes! After a very exciting day we left while Dominic stayed filming until Midnight.
That show was Plastered T-shirts 23rd episode on Zhi Lai Zhi Wang. Interning for Plastered has givenus the opportunity to actually watch one live and we were thrilled to get behind the scenes for it!
Cat DiPaci is from New York, a rising senior at UNC-Chapel Hill. KiranTyagi is from Massachusetts, a rising senior at Purdue University.

2 weeks ago I got asked to do a tv show with Ying Da and Liu Yan (two pretty famous tv presenters) for the newly launched online video channel QIYI.com which is owned by Baidu.com China’s biggest search engine. Now usually I get prepped before shows but this one i walked into the studio without an idea of what the content was and much to my amusement it was told we’d be talking about farting for 2 hours, at one stage even having to write on a white board how many times we thought we farted in a day. One of the panelists sat in front of me in this advert for the show wrote “one”…..very disappointing and an obvious lie. The show will be aired on QIYI.com tomorrow June 8th, I will post the full show on this blog as soon as the link is up.

This coming weekend I am very honoured to speak at the Ted×BLCU event in Beijing. This time I will be talking on the subject of how our perceived weaknesses as defined by our teachers and schools are in fact quite often our strengths. I’m particularly passionate about this topic and I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone at BLCU this weekend.

Last week was very proud to be invited to talk about Plastered at Beijing Foreign Studies University with some great “foreign friends” all of whom far more famous than I and all really great people (i invted them to our 5 year anniversary party and I’m sure of that now). We all spoke for about 25 minutes, Chelsea has a particularly good story about Chinese toilets. Here are some pics from the night.

Here are some pics from our 5 year anniversary party in Beijing. Was a great night and thanks to all of you that came and showed us support over the years!

New Plastered Kids Range
Support the Navy
This classic children’s design is inspired by a 1970s poster encouraging the young to support the Chinese Navy.
Monkey King
This piece of artwork was a collaboration with Plastered and Chinese street artist Monkey Ben. Monkey Ben took elements of east and west and threw them together with brilliant results. Communist Monkey King meets Indian warrior! A truly powerful design.
Tractor
A cross section of an old 1950s-style Chinese tractor. The characters below read “The East is Red – 54 Tractor”.
Electric Bus
Old style Beijing electric bus in classic green with the Chinese characters Beijing emblazoned behind, as a backdrop.”
Ping Pong Boy
Retro ping pong boy in action, featured in Chinese split pants on the back.
Here’s Kang Ayi, she has worked in our flagship store for nearly 5 years now and most definitely a Plastered Hero! Today she’s wearing her new uniform, a T-shirt with “Kao Po Fu Wu” design which means “honest service” something Kang Ayi’s been providing from the day she started.
