Gearing Up for Sat. Night
It’s been a very hectic last few days getting this Rock Weekend organised.
We’ve given out most of the free tickets, in fact we had some very excited young students jumping around outside the store when they got tickets in hand. Some didn’t quite believe they were going to get free entry.
Its very exciting for me to see these young kids so enthusiastic about Chinese rock music. Tonight is the finals of the student band competition at D-22. Previous nights have been great with loads of interesting and some really good bands taking the stage… and some mediocre ones but all in all the standard is pretty high.
On a bit of a side note – I’d forgotten how much I loved Haidian district – very energetic and creative area that reminds me of living out in that area in ’95. At each student night we’ve had members from GAR, Carsick Cars and P.K.14 judging.
BBC will be filming the student bands tonight, too so some good exposure for them.
Come by and cheer on your favourite. Tonight’s the night they decide who makes the cut to play the big three tomorrow night…..
