Rock and Roll

6766651I’ve always been a huge fan of Rock and Roll in China. Each year I’ve been here I’ve tried my best to keep up with the rock and roll scene and go to as many gigs as I can. I can remember clearly seeing Dou Wei’s bands Hei Bao perform at the French School back in 1995 when they had no where else to play. There were so many brilliant bands over the last 15 years, Wild Children, Second Hand Rose, Reflector, – just to name a few – and Beijing continues to churn out great new bands all the time. The scene here, it seems, is still very alive. Kaiser Kuo could tell you a lot he really lived the scene with his band Tang Dynasty and there are some good blogs that follow the scene here quite well like www.outdustry.com.
So ealier this year I approached a bunch of bands and record labels about producing and selling band t-shirts from Plastered offering a great deal on the profit sharing so the bands could really benefit from the sales. It is tough to make any real money in Rock and Roll in China. So this month (April) will see the start of our Band T-shirts. We start with Wuliao Contingent and PK-14 (coming late April) with many other big acts to follow. This will be unique to Plastered, so come by and support the bands. We collaborate on every design with the bands and I think you’ll like the results. In the case of PK-14 they supplied beautiful artwork that was made for t shirts.
