Zhou En Lai
The glorious set of stain glass icons is nearly finished, here is the last member to the team of 4. Zhou En Lai, designed by French/Chinese artist Tian Tian I can’t wait for this one to be made into a glass window. The stain glass makers are all the way down in Jiang Xu province so it’s another 3 weeks till I get my hands on him. I will be showing off all these stain glass windows in April so keep an eye on this blog for when and where.
Jimmy Page Plastered
I have had Jimmy Page in the shop on Nan Luo Gu Xiang before during the Olympics but I had never met him, I’ve also got a previous blog of him wearing a Plastered T-shirt. Yesterday as I walked past the shop I saw him in there again buying more Plastered gear, notably one of our blue zip up tops, he was later spotted at passby bar wearing it! I got to have a short chat with him after stupidly calling him Mr.Plant (i didn’t sleep well last night) and he’s a really nice guy. Anyway here is pic of me and Jimmy in the shop yesterday.
GAR video by Wang Heran
GAR is one of many great brilliant bands coming out of the Beijing rock scene at the moment, they played at our Plastered Rock Weekend last september and were amazing. Here is a video done by a student WAng Heran who I’m sure will be going on to great things after this master piece.
Plastered in India
I get sent quite a lot of pictures of plastered fans in different places in the world wearing plastered gear, I even have one chap on top on Mont Blanc in a plastered t shirt…nutter, this one however is my favourite thus far, i won’t name the person and will take it down if asked to but here is someone in plastered gear getting plastered in the mountains in india. Thanks to this person for making my day!
Me on BTV
Here’s a cracking new documentary the lovely people from BTV filmed last month and aired the last few days. Its about me and my life on Nan Luo Gu Xiang with my family etc. It also features a lot of my close friends who run small businesses around Nan Luo Gu Xiang.
Deng Xiao Ping in our Flagship Store
I’m still working on completing our stain glass collection. We recently printed our Mao Ze Dong design onto T-shirts which is proving to be very popular. I have had Deng Xiao Ping and Mao already made into real stain glass windows, Lei Feng and other icons are still in the factory. This week I had the Deng Xiao Ping stain glass window installed into the flag ship store. Here are a couple of pictures.
Fashion Show
Last weekend at the exhibition centre in Beijing was tones of fun. Its the first time we’ve done a fashion show that wasn’t on Nan Luo Gu Xiang. Also the first time I have not organised every part of it myself, we had a company come in and do the whole thing for us so it was quite relaxing. I also gave a short speech to which all of a sudden there was hundreds of people all wondering what this lao wai was talking about on the Nan Luo Gu Xiang stage. After the talk was the catwalk. Here are some pics from the show.
Tedx Guangzhou
I guess my tedx talk in Beijing must have hit a mark despite mentioning dildos. I’m being flewn down to Guangzhou to do another one, Tedx Guangzhou! Not bad at all, I’m quite looking forward to this one as i was shitting my pants about keeping the talk within 20 minutes last time. So if you are in Guangzhou on December 5th and just happen to read this blog and might want to hear me talk then come along……please!
The 8 in the Window
About every week I change the design on the front of our giant 8 shaped lightbox in the window of our store on Nan Luo Gu Xiang. Here are some pics from the last few weeks. Its a hope of mine that you’ll see something different everytime you pass our store there.
