Plastered and 08/15 collaborate on stunning bag
Plastered has teamed up with super cool 08/15 bags to produce a real beauty with more coming! We’ve taken our first design from a 1970s Beijing duffle bag with a stunning stencil of the iconic Beijing Hotel on it. Screen printed onto bright blue with great affect.
Made from truck tarp this bag is super strong and comes with a many extras too. A detachable and extendable key reel and detachable mobile phone pocket and a super strong adjustable seat belt strap. The bag can also be extended to almost twice its size to fit all your goodies.
Kung Fu Kid, Polos, and Pot gets you Plastered
Kung Fu Kid
The new karate kid film has nothing on the original but this new Plastered design is just brilliant. The front design takes its inspiration from government-published book of art from 1972; the back of the t-shirt is our special touch: our karate kid is wearing split pants, seen on children across China.
Nan Luo Gu Xiang Festival
Its that time of year when we hopefully get to have a festival on the Hu Tong. After a few meetings it looks like its going to happen this September, and even though I know the date right now I don’t dare confirm it as these things always change at the last moment. But keep an eye on this blog to find out the dates first.
Nan Luo Gone Crazy
This year on Nan Luo Gu Xiang we’ve seen even more people up and down the hu tong, but not a huge difference in sales. Having spoken to a lot of business owners and fellow members of the chamber of commerce everyone agrees more people looking and not so many spending money. The problem is that the rents are going up and up to crazy levels. Today I heard that the price of the place opposite my shop is up for rent for 330,000rmb a year and its only about 30 metres squared. Its hard to tell how many businesses on the street are really making any profit but I’d say less than half, and at this rate is going to get worse. Let’s hope that this can be controlled one day or the street might lose its special feel soon.
Get Plastered in San Li Tun
Now you can get Plastered in San Li Tun. Brand New China or BNC has just opened its doors in the Village North and is stocking an array of brilliant Chinese brands, we are proud to be one of them.
Plastered Intern
Here is Phil Cao, Phil grew up in Beijing and has been interning with us for the last few weeks as a designer. Today he came to work today wearing one of the very first Plastered designs from 2006 when we opened our doors on Nan Luo Gu Xiang. I took a fun picture of a Chinese icon Da Shan giving the thumbs up and added a star with 88rmb written in it. Certainly not a best seller, we only printed 40 of them, and today is the first time I’ve seen this design for nearly 4 years. Phil is standing next to our giant 8 in thew window of our store on Nan Luo Gu Xiang. He design the new cover made up of old meat tickets we bought together in a 2nd hand market.

Jiang Su TV
Last weekend Jiang Su tv flew me down to Nan Jing along with a group of very interesting business people to film a TV show. The weekend was really good fun, everyone in the panel for the show were really nice people. I also got to meet one of my heros—Tao Xiangli, he designed and built his own submarine, he only made it to the 5th grade of his education and lives in the countryside. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.
Kai Xin Ci Dian
Game shows are strange, especially when you find yourself on one. I was on Kai Xin Ci Dian last week (a very popular Chinese game show on CCTV1 ), had to answer 5 tricky questions in Chinese about different subjects, and if i got them right i would win my choice of a dream present. I asked for two return tickets to Vietnam to take my wife on a holiday. Not sure when the show will be aired but will be sure to post it here. Here are some pictures from the filming.
